Terms of Use — Podium

1. Agreeing to these terms

Podium (the "game") is operated by telluric.solutions Ltd. ("we"). Using the game — in a browser, as a PWA or as a store app — means you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy (/privacy). If you do not agree, do not play.

2. Who may play

  • The game's content is suitable for all ages. There is no sign-up and no technical age check.
  • If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian agrees to your use of the game.
  • Do not use the game where doing so is prohibited by law.

3. Your account — guest only

  • Your identity in the game is a random ID in a cookie (podium_uid) with an auto-generated nickname. There is no email, password or recovery method.
  • Losing the cookie means losing the account. Clearing cookies, switching browser or device, or private browsing creates a new, empty account. We cannot restore a previous account and are not liable for lost progress, coins or leaderboard position as a result.
  • You are responsible for your device and browser. Any action from the account counts as yours.
  • One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to farm coins, exploit bonuses or bypass limits violates these terms.

4. The licence we grant you

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to play the game for private, non-commercial use. All rights in the game — code, design, question wording, distractors, name and logos — remain ours or our licensors'. See the credits page (/credits) for open-source content licensing.

You may not: copy, modify, reverse-engineer, systematically scrape questions and answers, sell or rent access, or remove copyright notices.

5. Virtual items: coins, XP and helps

  • Coins, XP, levels, helps (swap, reveal, first letter) and entitlements are virtual items with no monetary value. They have no worth outside the game and cannot be converted to money, transferred between accounts or traded.
  • We may change scoring values, help prices, reward rates and economy balance at any time (they are remote-configured). Such changes give no right to compensation.
  • There are currently no real-money purchases. If and when purchases are offered through app stores, they will be subject to the store's terms (Apple App Store / Google Play) and refunds will be handled solely under the store's refund policy. Consumed virtual items are non-refundable. ⚠️ VERIFY WITH COUNSEL — update this section before enabling purchases (Israeli Consumer Protection Law — transaction cancellation).
  • Deleting the account (section 11) forfeits all virtual items without compensation.

6. Fair play and anti-cheat

  • Scores are computed only on the server. The client sends raw answers and timestamps; the server decides the result. Any client-side attempt to influence the score is void.
  • Prohibited: bots, scripts, automation, modified clients, exploiting bugs, coordinating daily-challenge answers between accounts, or any other means of gaining an unfair advantage.
  • The server validates response times, event sequence and request rates. Statistical anomalies are flagged for human review.
  • If you find a bug that grants an advantage, report it to privacy@telluric.solutions instead of exploiting it.
  • We may, at our discretion, reset scores, remove leaderboard entries, restrict features or ban an account for violating this section, without prior notice. We do not undertake automatic enforcement or to detect every violation.

7. Content accuracy

The game's truth is Wikipedia as of the snapshot date shown on the reveal screen. Every question rests on a Wikipedia article and/or a Wikidata query, and a source link is shown at the end of each round. Facts change — populations grow, records fall, and different language editions of Wikipedia may disagree. Where editions differ, Wikidata decides.

Therefore:

  • We do not warrant that answers are correct, complete or current against any other source. Scoring follows the snapshot data even if reality has since changed.
  • You can report a question from the reveal screen. We will review and fix or freeze questions as needed, but a report does not grant retroactive points and does not alter results of finished matches.
  • The game is entertainment. Do not rely on it as a source of information for any other purpose.

8. Your reports

Reporting is a choice from a fixed list. Please report only when there is a genuine problem. Abuse of the report button (e.g. mass-reporting valid questions) may lead to your reports being ignored or to account restrictions.

9. Leaderboards and seasons

  • Your nickname and score are shown to all players on daily, weekly, seasonal and all-time boards.
  • Nicknames must be appropriate. No offensive, misleading (impersonating), sexual or racist nicknames, and no contact details or advertising. We may replace such a nickname with a random one or ban the account, without notice.
  • Seasons open and close on dates we set. Season rewards (if any) are virtual items under section 5. We may void results obtained in breach of section 6, including after a season ends.
  • Operational errors (e.g. a leaderboard calculation fault) are corrected at our discretion and give no right to compensation.

10. Ads

  • The game is funded by rewarded ads: you choose to watch a video in exchange for an in-game benefit (continue after a miss, an extra daily attempt, a coin bonus). There are currently no forced ads.
  • The reward is granted only after the server confirms the view was completed. A provider fault, closing the video early, or no ad inventory does not earn the reward, and we are not responsible for ad availability.
  • Ad-based features depend on your consent (Settings → Privacy). Declining keeps the game playable but makes those features unavailable.
  • Ads are served by a rewarded-video ad provider (not yet selected); we are not responsible for ad content or the sites they link to.

11. Termination

  • By you: delete the account inside the game (Settings → Delete account). Deletion is immediate and irreversible, including all virtual items.
  • By us: we may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and may discontinue the game in whole or in part at any time. If we discontinue the game we will try to give reasonable in-game notice. Account closure or discontinuation gives no right to compensation for virtual items.

12. Limitation of liability

The game is provided "AS IS" without any warranty of availability, accuracy or fitness for purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages, or for loss of data, progress or virtual items. Our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event (currently: zero). Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be waived under the Consumer Protection Law or other applicable law.

⚠️ VERIFY WITH COUNSEL — enforceability of the liability cap against consumers in Israel and the EU.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed solely by the laws of the State of Israel. The competent courts of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa district have exclusive jurisdiction. ⚠️ VERIFY WITH COUNSEL — an exclusive forum clause against EU consumers (Brussels I bis lets a consumer sue in their home state).

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. A material change will be shown as an in-game notice and the effective date updated. Continued use after the change means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree, delete your account.

15. Miscellaneous

If any clause is found invalid, the rest remain in force. Not enforcing a clause is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy (/privacy) and Credits (/credits), are the entire agreement between us regarding the game.
